    • The average cost of buying a property in Cornwall is now £263,014
    • This has risen by almost £30,000 over the last year
    • Park Leisure’s luxury Cornwall holiday park homes start at just £45,000

Over the last year, house prices have risen across the UK and Cornwall is no exception, with a 12% increase over the last 12 months. This means that it now costs an average of £28,816 more to buy a second home in 2021 than it did in 2020.

Such an enormous increase makes holiday homes an even more attractive and affordable option. Park Leisure, which has a group of holiday parks in the UK, has recently opened two new developments in the county and prices begin at just £45,000 for a luxury static caravan. At such an affordable cost, you could buy almost six Cornwall caravan holiday homes for the price of getting a second property in the region.

Pentire is the perfect location from which to explore the stunning Cornish coastline. It is within easy reach of several beautiful beaches, historic market towns and picture-postcard villages, with the lovely coastal town of Bude just five miles away. The pet-friendly park is open all-year round and is excellent for walkers, with world-class trails right on the doorstep. It offers both static caravans and holiday lodges, with prices starting from as low as £45,000.

Oyster Bay, nestled within the scenic village of Goonhavern, also boasts a gorgeous location, with Newquay and Perranporth just a stone’s throw away. The location features a stunning leisure complex with a swimming pool, but if it’s waves you want, Oyster Bay can kit you up with a wetsuit and surfboard so you can head out for some water sports. With static caravans and holiday lodges available in a range of sizes, starting at just £49,000, there really is something for everyone.

Benefits of buying a holiday home

Here are some of the main reasons to consider buying a caravan or lodge holiday home instead of getting a second property or booking a vacation each year:

1) You don’t pay council tax

If you own a caravan or lodge, you don’t pay council tax, which could save you thousands of pounds each year compared to buying a second property.

2) All-year round availability

Park Leisure’s holiday home parks are open 365 days a year, meaning you can enjoy the beauty of Cornwall whenever you like. Instead of relying on hotels being open and having availability, you can visit at a time of your choosing.

3) Your dog is always welcome

Most pet-owners hate leaving their dog behind when they go on holiday, but with Park Leisure holiday homes, you don’t have to! The two new Cornwall parks are both dog-friendly and, being set in gorgeous countryside, your pooch will have the time of its life.

4) The sense of community

Each Park Leisure location holds regular owners’ events, from relaxed barbeques to entertaining charity auction nights, so you really feel like you are part of a community.

5) You can go on holiday more often

As you own the place, you can have as many holidays as you’d like, as you don’t have to splash out on accommodation each time you go away. You can even quickly pop down to the site for a spontaneous weekend if there’s nice weather or you just fancy a break.

If you’re thinking about buying a holiday home, Cornwall is one of the best possible locations to choose. In fact, Park Leisure’s recent research found that the coastal county is the most popular destination for holiday homes in the UK, with more than one in five (21%) Brits saying they’d like to own a place in Cornwall.

Lisa Williams, Director of Marketing and Holiday Sales at Park Leisure, said: “There are so many benefits to owning a holiday home and Cornwall is the ideal place to get one due to its stunning natural beauty.

“With house prices rising over the last year, it’s now so much more expensive to buy a second property, which makes a holiday park home an even more appealing proposition. Our beautiful Cornwall parks are set in stunning locations and have a great community feel, so you can relax and enjoy the best of what the county has to offer.”
