Bluebells

Bluebells

The sounds are different these days.
No longer the clamour of the
seven fifty two to Euston.
No longer the rise and fall of office chat.
My sounds are the flow of the river
As eddies ferry a meandering leaf.
The rain falls soft in the trees,
and still the blackbird sings.

Where the land descends
to the river and leaves
the woodland margins
of deepest green,
bluebells spill out as
broad brush strokes
from an artist’s palette
cerulean in sharp contrast.
Their pungent perfume
gentle in the air.

Expat Brit living in France on diminishing pension supplemented by teaching English as a foreign language. I also let my property in the summer. I am widely travelled and want to venture out again perhaps this winter. I am a scuba diver and have enjoyed diving in Australia, New Zealand, Mombassa, Egypt, Malaysia, Lime Regis, and a quarry pit in Cambridge. It is not a major part of my life, but I enjoy the odd adventure. I also like to sail, and often hire a small dinghy in suitable places. I am not a very good sailor, so I take care!! Would love to sail with a good sailor or a few sailors? Things I have enjoyed when travelling. I had to drive from Muscat to Dubai and met camels cantering down the high way in the desert. Meeting huge turtles face to face in Mombassa. They were the size of suitcases, and had parked themselves on rock shelves for a rest. Riding from Da Nang in Vietnam up to Hoi An, over the Marble Mountain as a pillion rider with a local Vietnamese travel agent, on a unique type of tour! Island hopping in Fiji. Cruising off Sardinia on a yacht. An eco cruise round Doubtful Sound with eight other people. We hand fed wild eels, and swam with dolphns. I am a writer and use my travels for new experiences for my writing. Although I like a good walk with my dog, I am no hiker. I am looking for a sort of adventure which is not too much like hard work, but is visually spectacular. Waterfalls, remote swimming holes, unusual settings. I am not a sun bed person. Venues that might be of interest to me are Brazil, and maybe Columbia. Perhaps you have your own ideas to share with me? I enjoy decent food, wine and sunshine.
