Cool Your Horses

Make time to stop and enjoy just being alive. It’s so easy to get dragged along in life’s rush.

Cool Your Horses

Life can get busy, with endless chores
The nine to five, like revolving doors
Up with the lark, no time to rest
Trying so hard to do our best

We must keep peddling to pay our bills
Our minds now agog as we get to the tills
How much is that! I hear you say
It was 50 pence cheaper the other day

We rush around from pillar to post
No time to ‘fit in’ what we love to do most
There’s work to be done, mouths to feed
We do what we have to at record speed

The years go by in the blink of an eye
And yet still we rush, please answer me why?
Cool your horses, please take your time
Drink in the days, like your supping fine wine

Enjoy your surroundings, take time to breathe
Notice the birdsong as they dance in the trees
Soak in the warmth of the afternoon sun
Relax your mind and make room for fun

For the years, they will rush and before you know
You’ll look back and ponder “where did they go”
So, please cool your horses whenever you can
And make time to ‘live’ a part of the plan
