From China a deadly virus has arrived
We ask ourselves how long it is to survive
At first it would affect the vulnerable and old
Now a different story has begun to unfold

The fit and young cannot be spared
And we look on and watch in despair
As I am in the first spring heat
We cross the road so the virus can be beat

We are hoping for the curve to decline at this stage
But there’s a lot more sorrow before we can turn that page
Its affected royalty and parliament alike
Who on earth next is it going to strike

Keeping families apart is the harshness of the day
Texting and phoning is the only way to have our say
All we want is to be in the same room
Of course not allowed in this daily gloom

For now, in isolation we all must stay
We are all in together come what may
Our world has stopped, we ask why and and how
But this is all there is for now

Please bring on testing hopefully very soon
And a vaccine shortly after to give us a boon
We would love to know the nightmare would be ending
With life as we knew it, that is pending

The economics of the country is in distress
With thoughts of how to how to get out of this mess
we will always look back to lives that were lost
With sadness and thoughts at what this has all cost.
