Empty Room

Empty Room

Here I am in this empty room,
me and my heart – Boom, Boom, Boom
I can’t stand up,and I can’t lie down,
thoughts in my head going around and around.

The sound of silence is loud in my head.
I wonder if it’s time for bed?
I awake with the birds, but they don’t sing,
Like the bell they gave me, that I can’t ring.

Why do my “bits” go one at a time?
leaving a body that’s not worth a dime.
If I was a dog, they would put me to sleep,
but no, they prefer to watch, to sit, to weep.

Everyone whispers in case I can hear,
not a smile to be seen, just boredom and fear.
Someone suggests  a cup of tea
I wonder why they don’t ask me?

My life is over, buy they make me stay,
another long night, one more dreary day.
but my time will come, oh please make it soon,
to lie here, free, of this empty room.
