Just Wow!!

I am not a political person but the last 2 years have been incredibly difficult for all of us.  Today’s news has totally gobsmacked me. I work for a Funeral Directors which makes it just unimaginable that this can be allowed to happen. I am sure many others can relate.

Just Wow!!

So, in May 2020
We were all locked down at home
With rules piled high upon us
Feeling scared and so alone

People rushed to hospital
No loved ones could attend
Nurses stepped up to hold their hands
As they reached their journey’s end

With scaled down funerals, yes just ten
To mourn the ones we love
Hearts broken, lives tormented
To adhere to rules from above

Families forced to keep apart
Precious time together lost
To stop this virus spreading
We must obey at every cost

Our mental health affected
From this awful situation
But together we all did our part
To protect our much-loved nation

Alas, today we hear for some
These rules did not apply
Whilst we were filled with sadness
Our leader bled us out to dry

We could meet with just one person
No further mixing could we do
But bring a bottle and have some fun
At number 10, for the privileged few

How totally abhorrent
To deceive us in this way
And smirk when asked, so openly
You have surely had your day

Such total disrespect for us
You’re laughing in our face
The trust has gone, we’ve lost so much
An absolute disgrace
