My Greatest Gift

In my mind, every day is Mother’s Day.  I feel so lucky to be a mum, it is a privilege denied to some.  Maybe there should be a children’s day, to thank them for making us complete 😊❤️

My Greatest Gift

The greatest gift that I could have
Is that I am your mum
My child, you mean the world to me
I am the lucky one

We’ve shared so many milestones
Each one was so unique
First steps, first teeth, first sentences
As you slowly learned to speak

Old school photos take me back
To when you were so young
I loved to watch you blossom
When your life had just begun

Daytime snuggles, evening cuddles
Our bond, it is so strong
I’m both your friend and teacher
I hope I taught you right from wrong

I’ve wiped your tears on days you’ve cried
You’ve done the same for me
I wish you well in all you do
To be the best that you can be

I’ve cherished all our shopping trips
Days out, just me and you
Days at the Theatre and the zoo
Special times, to name a few

I would not have missed a second
And, although now the nest you’ve flown
To venture off into the big wide world
This will always be your home

You’ve showered me with endless love
As I hope I’ve done for you
You’ve wrapped your love around my heart
To last me my whole life through

So, on this Mothering Sunday
I thank you with all my heart
I’ve done many things in my life
But having you was the very best part
