Somewhere in Between

Wedged between onion skins,
lies a tender moment’s miracle.
Partway lodged in levels dark,
runs bright lights never seen.

Peeking filler oozes slowly,
beyond promises of escape.
Warm at first, it squirms to right,
then left between the blankets.

Several down and lost to sight,
lies emotions deep in blue.
Skip on down another tier,
to tepid thoughts awaiting.

Layers crimson top the pile,
reminiscent of today.
Soon to be tomorrow’s old,
destined to be forgotten.

Digging deep in memory’s hold,
lies the layers needed now.
Events tied to emotions,
Always wiggling in between.
