Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat

“Trick or treat?” the children cry,
As they knock upon your door.
“Give me a minute” is my reply,
“For I’m really not quite sure!…….
I think I’ll have a treat please!”
They don’t know what to do,
“That’s not quite how it works” they say,
“WE don’t give the treat to YOU!”
Behind their masks it’s hard to tell
Exactly how they’re feeling,
Although their shoulders drooping low
Can be a bit revealing.
But I’m  not the meanie I seem to be,
The sweets are always here,
And this they know in fact so well,
‘COZ THEY COME BACK EVERY YEAR !
