Discover the secret paradise of the Maldives

If your idea of holiday heaven is discovering new places, meeting local people and learning more about the culture and tradition of your holiday destination, then the Maldives has probably not been top of your list, until now!

Generally regarded as an exclusive high-end tourist destination, changes to local laws have now provided the opportunity to venture in to the real Maldives.

Secret Paradise, a Maldives based tour company is leading this change. Offering small group and private travel experiences, their unique tours are designed to allow you to engage with local people as well as enjoy the activities for which the Maldives is renowned; diving, snorkeling, watersports and sunset safaris.

Local island life

Secret Paradise was founded in 2012, when following 27 years in UK retail management, the opportunity to relocate arose for their co-founder Ruth Franklin. Ruth was no stranger to the Maldives having visited the archipelago on over 30 occasions. Their focus of engaging travelers with locals was driven by Ruth’s own experiences during her travels in the archipelago.

Travel with Secret Paradise on any one of their range of tours and immerse yourself in the Maldives, its culture, beliefs, and tradition.  Travelling by public ferry and staying on an inhabited island will provide you with unique opportunities to engage with the local community. Share breakfast with a family in their home. Learn to cook tasty Maldivian dishes. Watch and participate in local craft lessons. Fish the traditional way with just a line and BBQ your catch on the beach for a dinner under the stars. Exchange stories of Maldives past and present or just sit back on a traditional Maldivian seat with your feet in the ocean and watch the world go by.

Secret Paradise Relax Local

With a host of guesthouses now available to book online, Secret Paradise has done the hard work for you and have carefully selected their guesthouse partners to ensure your stay provides a balance of comfort, great service, local atmosphere and value for money. Whether you select a premium hotel set facing out to the ocean or a more modest cosy style property with a private garden or beach area, you will be assured of a warm welcome.

Travelling with Secret Paradise you can expect high standards of service, communication and expert local knowledge, as well as holiday experiences that are fun and leave lasting memories.

A 7 night tour starting package for 4 islands is from just US$849 per person  – includes accommodation, breakfast, all domestic transfers by public ferry, local island tours, local island guide and all local tax.

Isn’t it time you travelled Maldivian style?

As a long time lover of many islands in The Maldives, now that I'm on my own ( widowed 2015, after 54yrs ) I'm not ready to give up on these magical islands, but with an additional single supplement it means I can't afford to go at the time we used to ( Feb ) . Has anyone any experience of a solo Maldives holiday from the UK ?
