Pick me Up!

I have a guilty secret and I am not sure if I should tell you
Confess as a health and fitness guru what naughty things I get up to
If I come clean and tell you of my weakness will you also tell me yours
Then we can share in a an after dinner tale that exposes all of our flaws
After eating a healthy meal of organic salad I feel so pious and good
I then sneak off to the pantry and befriend some wicked and tasty pud
It could be a sherry trifle with lashings of cream upon the top
That makes me feel quite tipsy and merry if I have the lot
Or perhaps a spotted dick with lashings of custard running down the side
Oh my feelings of unadulterated desire and yearning I simply cannot hide
Then there is rice pudding with a giant blob of strawberry jam
That quite easily shows me up, for the pudding freak I am
Arctic roll is ice cold and I have to secrete it from the freezer
Where I spot the lemon cheese cake such a pretty little teaser
Warmed apple pie with ice -cream seduces me, I can no longer put up a fight
Then there is the fluffy melt in your mouth and most heavenly, angel delight
Treacle tart is full of even more calories, I daren’t even look
Whereas as lemon meringue pie, I would love to learn to cook
Viva Italia for their delicious and sexy tiramisu
It can ‘pick me up’ any time and stop me feeling blue
Roly poly is what I will be if I continue to be a pudding thief
Perhaps after all I had better stick to a boring lettuce leaf….

Suzanne Kelsey

I am now (reluctantly) reitred from my work as a teacher/lecturer which has been a very long and happy career that focused on education, child development, dance, drama and teacher training. I was also a health and fitness tutor and contemporary dance teacher in my spare time! I love tai chi, photography, music, dance, theatre, reading, walking, mindfulness/meditation, social media and learning something new every day. I write poetry to raise money for good causes. I am passionate about campaigning for social justice and saving our NHS here in the UK. I also love my partner, my family and my friends and like to spend as much time with them as possible.
