What do you think about cutting funding of the Police force?Hello Wilf, first of all this government and future governments should put Ist, priority on our police, and armed forces, they are the first to look after us, what with recent events, I think its ludicrous that at the moment we need all our services, the government has decided to cut the man power, (great isn't it this is just what the terrorist want to know ,) it seems the government want to cut everything except their own pensions, and pay salaries, as after all you see some of them asleep in the houses of parliament when they are supposed to represent us, and they actually get paid for it,. in other words we are expendable, they aren't, this is a poor reflection of what this government think of us, which is really bad considering that they were re -elected to look after us, in the first place, and so far theyre not making a very good job of it, are they,.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?Like virtually everyone else, I too enjoy good action books, although I have many favourites, one author to which iv read all of his books is jack Higgins ,really good stories to which many of his books always have a twist in it some where, another book that im reading is the true war time storey ,called (zigzag,) real name (Eddie chapman) a true war time story of a criminal ending up as a double agent, working, that is spying for England, but convincing the German Nazi party, he was working for them too,and being given the iron cross, he really lived life on the edge but some how managed to do the impossible, eventually given a royal pardon, from the British government, Christopher plumber played the character in the film version, and like some of these true action stories, fact seems at times stranger than fiction, strange but true, a really good bed time read,ViewDate:

How to handle nuisance callsHello Rachel, Reading about nuisance calls, when a very good friend of mine receives these types of calls, he says to the caller I wont be a minute and leaves them hanging on the phone, after all they're the ones who are calling trying to sell him something or other, and after ten minutes or so, if they are still on the line he says I wont be a minute, and again leaves them by now getting very frustrated, waiting for him to return , eventually the penny drops as these callers realise they have been duped, by doing this he has reduced a number of calls and it hasn't costs him a penny . more annoying for them than him, as in-between making them wait, he does things like making a cup of tea, or coffee, or finishes off the ironing, or what ever, being a pensioner he has all the time in the world, and for him it works,ViewDate:

Kindle vs BookYes like everyone else who enjoys a good book to read, I too use to keep quite a number of paperbacks, but in recent years I switched to buying a kindle e-reader and ,enjoy the simplicity of clicking and buying a kindle book. on line, immediately, and to which is down loaded in seconds, the beauty of these e-readers is that you can store quite a few thousand e-books on them, although the feel of a paper back or hard back book is great, for many of us the problem comes in that if you decide to keep these books, then space becomes a priority, finding a place to keep and store them, where as with the e-reader, the kindle or what ever you have, can store these books all on one device, and searching for new books to read couldn't be easier. so at the end of the day its all a matter of choice,ViewDate:

Insufficient seating for weary shoppersit seems on line shopping is growing easier for people at work, with little or no time to spare, but as many forum members say its getting harder for many senior and elderly shoppers to go to the shops, and therefore on line shopping is one way to deal with the problem, the only problem is that unlike when you go shopping yourself, you can feel, and see the product, your buying, look at the colours and so on, and make on the spot decisions where as, with on line shopping some times the shop assistant has to make a decision and then gets it wrong, So when buying clothes on line, some times the selection sent wasn't exactly what you had expected, or had in mind, and in some cases the item wasn't as you had seen it ,in say a catalogue or news paper, but for people unable to get to the shops, perhaps this is the only way that they can manage to do their shopping, that is unless they are lucky enough to have some one else get it for them,ViewDate:

Ditch the contract: is pay-as-you-go cheaper?Referring to pay as you go mobile phones Iv found that the p.a.y.g. is the best way for me, to keep control over what I want to spend on phone calls, I have both a simple phone, as well as a smart phone . and there's a world of difference between them, due to their technical designs and programmes, for example the simple phone doesn't have any apps,at all, where as the smart phone has more than enough depending what you want to use it for, like everything else once you find your way around them , you'll find them easy to understand and use. so depending what you need a mobile phone for either way, for me in particular, the p.a.y.g. method would and will always be my first choice.ViewDate:

The InternetHello Wilf, yes its a far cry from 50 years ago when if we wanted to phone some one you had to know where the telephone boxes were and hoped that they were working, my mother never had a phone so when I did eventually get one which was a party line having a chat was not only expensive but awkward as then you never knew if some one was listening in on your conversation,. today mobiles are a blessing for all sorts of reasons, ZAK32ViewDate:

The InternetYes I agree the internet is wonderful, especially for ordering on line, or simply just looking for just about anything you need to find answers to. but using skype is fantastic too, as my family and I regularly skype our friend out in new Zealand , where my wife can show her anything she has made, or bought in the shops ,and they can talk as long as they want for free, so being able to see, and speak to some one, twelve thousand miles away is fantastic, so yes I too value and appreciate the internet very much so,.
