Breaking News

Breaking News

Think I really should refuse
To listen to the morning news
Hear of people maimed or dead
All this while I’m still in bed

Children left alone and crying
More politicians found out lying
The value of the pound still sinking
Lowered units I should be drinking

No good weather, wind and rain
Next weeks forecast, snow again
Airports shut, trains on strike
Petrol shortage, get a bike

If tea, I didn’t need a cup
I wouldn’t bother to get up!

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world..

Absolutely! a cuppa fixes everything!
Clever poem and in it wise advice
Queen's song says it all " Radio Ga Ga."

Do they have Irish tea instead of Irish coffee by the way?

Not sure about Irish tea, but years ago knew a beautiful Irish lady , only trouble was she kept her teapot on the coal fire all day, the tea was stewed not brewed, tannin coated your teeth. Worth it for her blather tho

Great poem Glenys. Doom and gloom abound. Thank goodness for that cuppa.

Some news so bad, tea just won’t do
I really must confess to you
I know I shouldn’t , it’s a sin
But require a double gin

Oh dear you’ve been pushed to the brink
The gloomy news has turned you to drink
Don’t let this gin habit become chronic
Remember to add lemon, ice and a little tonic.
