Christmas 2020

This was written by my mother ..Barbara Kyle..with her apologies to Thomas Hardy…

Christmas 2020

Christmas day and eleven o’clock,
Did I hear a sneeze,
as we sat in the garage,
all muffled up amongst the anti-freeze.

We pictured other Christmases when
we sat by the blazing fire
surrounded by light and warmth and colour,
no fear of virus dire.

So fair a fancy did we weave
to cheer the scene so bare
And hope that better days will come
And we will all be there.

With Christmas as it used to be
And friends and family nigh,
And thankfulness in all our hearts
that the virus has gone by.
