Coronavirus

Coronavirus

Locked away, no friends or family to visit.
Why did it come? What the hell is it?
Tears from my eyes, day as I watch the death toll rise.
Worried sick for my wife who still works in a supermarket
At sixty-five she should be retired, but the government took that away.
My son who lives at home, his fiance moved in.
He is still working to keep the money coming in.

Can’t buy a decent mask, rip off merchants have seen to that.
Global warming a thing of the past?
First, it was the floods, then the heatwave.
To go out you have to be brave.
My eldest daughter in London working in the NHS.
Her sister stuck in the little flat they share.
Not getting any fresh air.

Working from home spends the day alone.
God has always looked after me.
I hope in these dire times he will still be there.
I pray every night, things will be right.
But as I go to bed and turn off the light.
Struggling to sleep, the cramp in my feet.
Pains in my abdomen for a long time before the crisis.

Now no hope of getting it sorted.
It’s my birthday at the end of May.
I will be seventy-two if I make it.
I battle on for I am Scottish and strong.
All this because something going Wong in Wuhan.
