E-Bikes

Oldies on their e-bikes have never felt so free
Since their Mums would say ‘Go out and play and don’t come back ’til tea’.
They cruise along like birds on the wing at their own decided paces.
No sweaty bodies and gasping for breath, just daft, happy grins on their faces.

Distance is no problem, e-bikes turn back the years.
They can do on a bike what they used to do but with battery-assist and gears.
And if anyone had said to me ‘Cycle lanes are right’
I would have said ‘Are you having laugh? You can’t be very bright’.

But now that we have got e-bikes, we know how ‘right’ they are.
We’ve seen parts of this city we would never have seen in a car.
So, let’s hear it for the Council, (not I thing I would normally say)
Because cycle lanes have proved their worth. We see them used every day.

‘Keep all cyclists off the roads!’ is what car drivers would like.
Well, now we have an alternative, so just get ON YER BIKE!
