Growing old

Growing old

Growing old, it’s not much fun
Unless your sitting in the sun
Lazy days when I used to be busy
Now just standing makes me dizzy

My hearing aid just bleeps at me
Where are my glasses so I can see
My corsets on front to back
My bra’s too tight, I need it slack.

My walking stick clicks and bends
Hope my aching knee soon mends
My fingers bent, arthritis pain
Sorry, don’t mean to moan again

My hairs is a mess my skin is dry
I think I’ve got a wonky eye
Cracking lips, where is my balm
I’ll remember soon if I keep calm

Memory fades, can’t find my keys
Climbing stairs makes me wheeze
Attend appointments a day to late
Shopping trolley’s are things I hate

So many tablets for my aching joint
I sometimes wonder what’s the point
Take Vitamins for healthy bones
Do they have one to stop the moans

My head tells me I’m still 21
Ironing, housework all done
Never see myself as old
Too much to do I must be bold

Life is short, you’re a long time dead
Lots of thoughts go round my head
Live for today be kind to others
Especially your ageing mothers.

I am originally from Liverpool. Married to Philip. Although we had 4 kids I never suffered with empty nest syndrome. Love to travel. In 2012 we established a charity in order to give children from poor families in Africa the chance to gain an education. Lived in Egypt for 5 years,it's a very challenging country to live in, I particularly found it difficult to live in a male dominated culture, being a Tauren I have very strong opinions especially about women's rights and the way they are treated in third world countries.
