Stairlift to Heaven (A Tribute to Occupational Therapists)

The 20th August is the birthday of Robert Plant from Led Zepplin. Now that he has reached the age of 74, perhaps he is no stranger to the sentiments expressed in this parody of one of their most well known and best-loved songs, Stairway To Heaven.

Stairlift to Heaven

There’s a lady who’s sure
Her knees don’t work anymore
And she’s buying a stairlift to Heaven.

For there’s only one loo
And it’s upstairs, too,
But when she’s desperate, she’ll need to get there quickly.

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, ooooh. So she’s buying a stairlift to Heaven.

What a relief
When she wants to brush her teeth
In the bathroom next door to the toilet.

These things are upstairs
As well as clothes she wears
And her bedroom with a wide-screen telly in it.

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, Thank God for a stairlift to Heaven.

If there’s a rusting of your body,
Don’t be alarmed now.
It’s Nature’s way of saying ‘Slow Down’.

Yes, there are ways of easing aches and pains and did you know,
The answers lie within the OTD?

They’ve got walking sticks and frames
And huge cards fo playing games
If your eyesight is not all it should be.

Grab rails, long-handled reachers,
Lap trays with many features.
Yes, there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, ooooh. Anyone for a stairlift to Heaven?

Shower stools and high-backed chairs,
Dressing aids – all kinds of wares
To help you make your life worth the living.

Ramps and scooters for your ease
But no stunts upon them, please.
If you fall off, you’ll surely come to grief.

Ooooh, ooooh and it makes me wonder……

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, ooooh, if you’ll end up on that STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN……
