This was written for my friends who have had close ones pass

You are gone from this place but not from my heart
We meet in the void of life and death
I through my door, you through yours
We reminisce on the memories that we made together
We laugh, we cry, we remember
If you are just the other side of the corridor
Are you really so far away from me?
We cannot touch but in our subconscious
We cannot hug but you are always close to me
I shall not feel sad without you as you are still here
You stay by my side and are with me always
I know you will be waiting for me across the corridor
I fear not for when the time comes I know you will be with me.

I am about to retire so will have more time on my hands. I enjoy the 2 border terriers we have and walking them. I love to write poems and have written several for friends and also used to write a leaving poem for members of staff that left work.
