Bird Song

This very topical poem was written by Mike Rose, inspired by the birds in his garden!

BIRD SONG

The Blackbirds song is really neat
I can hear him singing down our street
His is such a lovely song
To him I could listen all day long

The Cuckoo now is rarely heard
Now that is a nasty bird
She lay’s her eggs in other bird’s nests
Her offspring kick out all the rest

The Song Thrush also rarely heard
But oh what a lovely bird
With speckles on his chest
His song is one of the best

The Doves and Pigeons they do bill and coo
They’re not so afraid of me and you
In the garden is their retreat
To eat the food we put out for other birds to eat

The Cock Pheasants song it is so strong
It can be hear from far and long
He is such a handsome bird
But no so is his wife I’ve heard

The Dawn Chorus is the best bird tune
But it is sung far too soon
Most of us are still fast asleep
For this rendezvous to keep
