Breaking News

I just switched off the dreaded news,
My mind is now a muddle,
At this desperate and anxious time
I really need a cuddle

I can’t remember the last time
I hugged my family and friends
I dream and long for better days
When this global crisis ends

I try to be grateful and positive
Stay safe and not complain
But this sinking feeling washes over me
Oh, here I go again!

I dream like you of brighter days
Of normality and being free
For now, it’s just my own four walls,
Protection for you and for me …
