Precious Memories

Precious Memories

I see your face, the gentleness of it
I hear your voice, the softness of it
I smell your fragrance, the sweetness of it
I miss you Mum

I inherited your grin, the uniqueness of it
I share your laugh, the fun of it
I adored your smile, the joy of it
I miss you Mum

I relished your hug, the warmth of it
I felt your touch, the comfort of it
I respected your wisdom, the sense of it
I miss you Mum

I witnessed your pain, the rawness of it
I sensed your anger, the emotion of it
I watched you cry, the sadness of it
I miss you Mum

I admired your life, the devotion of it
I cherished your love, the depth of it
I treasure your memory, the preciousness of it
I miss you Mum

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. My pastimes include Rugby Union; I follow Leicester Tigers. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also enjoy photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.

Beautiful poem, Karen. I lost my Mum nine years ago just before Christmas and, like you, I miss her unconditional love and happy smile every day.

Thank you so much Bridget. You are so right. I lost my lovely Mum 16 years ago. The emptiness never goes away. Thank you for reading my poem.
