The Ills

The Ills

Like a silent predator, it crept right in
Took us by surprise let the dread begin
A mask is no protector only soap will do
Washing hands imperative and a curfew
Keep away from crowds isolate yourself
Don’t bother going shopping only empty shelf
Loo roll, pasta, rice, and eggs all gone
A recipe I can’t find to switch my cooker on
We need to take a handle to get back on top
Of all this panic buying and to stop the rot
Slowing down our hectic lives to get a grip
Giving those that heal the best battleship
Gloved hands and sanitizer the new norm
A virus gone global a whirlwind storm
