Thinking

Thinking

Grandad will you take me shopping,
I want to get a card today.
It’s for someone that I met at school,
So I can write what I can’t say.

Whoa..slow down little fella,
Now tell me..what’s all this about?
I’m sure you’ve got your reasons,
Of that I have no doubt.

I think I’m in a thing called love,
At least.. I think I am.
I dream about her all the time,
I think her name is Pam.

Now that’s a lot of thinking,
You’ve been doing little man.
And I remember feeling just the same,
When I first met your Nan.

Do you and nan still feel the love?
Does the feeling never die?
Do you feel that if you lost her,
All you’d do is cry and cry?

That’s a yes to all of that,
And in your years to come.
You’ll find the girl who’s meant for you,
And you’ll know that she’s the one.

Oh grandad I am very sure,
That this girl’s meant for me.
And one day I will marry her,
You just wait and see.

Well..love can bring you heartache,
Life can be very hard at times.
So don’t pin all your hopes and wishes,
On a fancy card that rhymes.

But WILL you take me grandad,
I’ve really got to try.
I’m off to big school in the summer,
And I need to say goodbye.

Ok go and get your coat on,
That’s enough of all this fuss.
Come on..chop chop,
It’s time for us..to go and get a bus.

Oh THANK YOU so much grandad,
I’m so glad that I’ve got you.
That’s all right my little one,
I think I’ll get one too.

Not a lot to tell...just an ordinary man...always loved writing but never had the time until now...hope I've got a few years left to write about the million things I would like to get down on paper be it in poetry form or just plain old story telling. Just in case anyone would like me to come along to their group and read a few of my poems live..I would be happy to do so within the confines of Kent or Sussex...I would just need to cover my time and petrol costs...plus a cup of tea and a biscuit. Just email [email protected] To answer some of your questions= ex-army..ex -jackeroo...ex-builder..ex-quite a few other things..still rocking...married...2 + 3 children...7 grandchildren...retired...love custard creams. I have now published my first collection of poems which are now available on Amazon under the title of..LAST APPLE ON THE TREE. The book consists of twenty seven poems covering a wide range of topics and emotions. My second book has just been published and is called A BREEZE IN THE WILLOWS, also available on Amazon. I hope that everyone will get as much enjoyment reading them, as I did writing them.
