Homemade Soup

This poem, written by Irene Kerr,  should warm the cockles of your heart and hearth …

Homemade Soup

When I make soup on winter days
My thoughts begin to roam
To tiny rooms and roaring fires
To memories of my home

The shadows danced around the walls
While brasses shone so bright
The soup cooked slow upon the stove
Baked bannocks smelled just right

The welcome home was at the door
To greet us one by one
It smelled of love and comfort too
Our school and work day done

Today I made a pot of soup
Fond memories came to mind
Of loved ones no longer with us
Forever intertwined
