Spring

This delightful seasonal poem was written by Irene Kerr …

Spring

Days are getting longer
The sun is late to rise
Birds call to one another
Of winters near demise

They’re busy in the garden
Gather twigs to build a nest
While those pesky squirrels
Distract them from their quest

New buds adorn tree branches
With promises to leaf
A canopy of foliage
Will give shelter underneath

Debris to rake from autumn
A necessary chore
To groom the beds and planters
Buy annuals at the store

Such beauty to hang in baskets
A deck to fast adorn
Some chairs to invite relaxing
A welcome never worn

Perennials are like old friends
Who visit every year
Seem to sprout so quickly
As soon as they appear

To view nature awaken
From winters grip so cold
Its’ worth cannot be measured
A miracle to behold
