I am recently widowed, my husband did the driving so I was happy to give it up, however now find I am stuck in the house a lot more and sometimes find it a long day.

I'm a widow too and my husband also did the driving (I never learned). I'm recently retired and my children are both adults and have left home, Have you thought about joining some clubs etc? I've joined my local branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A) and now I'm hardly ever at home! If you've never heard of U3A before, it's an organisation for retired people and has various interest groups (different branches offer different activities) The groups are all run by U3A members and are very wide ranging. I'm a member of our branch's belly dancing group. I'm also a member of the film club, the board games club, the dining club and a group for members who are widowed, separated or divorced and live on their own. You can do as little or as much as you like. It's a good way to get out of the house and socialise, although some activities are currently online.

I am an 80 year old widower living in a large house by myself. I look forward to having someone to talk to.
I am an active senior citizen. Cooking, laundry and most things done by myself.
I do not shovel snow or mow grass however.

About me. Well I lost my husband in October 2021. We'd been married for 61 years so it was a major shock as it was so sudden. I've got 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. I love going to the ballet,reading,doing crosswords and listening to mainly classical music. I also play Scrabble on line. Very addictive.
Unfortunately I don't drive. It would have been very handy but the buses here are very good and at least I don't have to find parking spot.
I live in a London suburb of Chingford which is in East London.

Losing my husband was a big shock as it was so sudden. We'd been married for 61 years so it was a lot to take in. He collapsed at home on a Tuesday morning and died the next evening in hospital with an infected gall bladder.
I live in London in one of the suburbs. Chingford in East London. I'd love to move but the thought of packing up puts me off.

This is very sad that your post is so old and no one has responded, I just joined today. I would be very happy to have a yarn with you. I'm 64yo married and retired, because of the covid stuff My volunteer work with German Shepherd Rescue came to an end and I find myself at a bit of a loss.
I know how long days feel, it would be nice if you would like to talk.

I spent a couple of days in St Austell without a car. I think when the sun is out it puts a different perspective on things but now it's going into winter that is another adjustment
Are you taking care of yourself. Even if you don't go out, are you eating and sleeping well
What kind of thing do you enjoy...
I went to Tate St Ives this week and it was SHUT. Duh. Still I got a day out in St Ives instead. I'm so glad I had hat gloves and coat. I don't think I saw any shorts and even the cute black and white local birds were scurrying about. It was definitely squally.
I can't say I enjoyed much what was on offer. Keeping on the move was a very good option. Although I much enjoyed a great takeaway soup which I wandered through arcades and narrow streets with looking at the window displays.
