Long distance relations

Hi anyone from England moved to Northern Ireland? I'm 64 retired, divorced, with friends, but I miss my son and grandchildren so much. They moved 3 years ago. His wife is from NI (yes, you lose a son when he gets a wife!) I've visited lots of times. I've racked my brains, on either renting a place over there for a while etc I'm really sitting on the fence with making a move. The thing that bothers me most is how easy would it be to make new friends - has anyone had experience of doing this?
