Saying Hello - at last!
Watch this postHello Everyone! I joined the site last January - but was travelling on an emotional rollercoaster at the time, and found it difficult to interact/socialise with folk for a while. However, life is beginning to improve a bit now - so I decided it's time to become a bit more positive and venture slightly further than Facebook! Briefly - my husband passed away after a short illness just before Christmas 2015, I had to sort out and move home within the next 2 months (while recovering from a major operation), and I hit 60 in June; so it's been a bit of a year! I now live in Derby - and although I have become involved in a few local activities, it would be nice to make some local friends who'd be happy to occasionally meet up for coffee and cake, go to the theatre/cinema or similar!! Although I'm happy to talk to anyone from anywhere online! I have 2 grown up daughters but no grandchildren (yet - I live in hope!) - and a variety of health issues that I try to forget about, although mobility can be a bit of a problem at the moment. I'm trying to improve my life a bit, one step at a time. I have loads of interests and opinions on many things - but am always ready to consider other people's views, although I'm essentially a 'people before profit' sort of person, and a great believer in fairness and social justice. But I dislike extremes of all kinds - so be prepared to compromise if you have very fixed ideas!!!! Hopefully, there will be someone out there looking for a friend like me - so please get in touch if anything I've said is of any interest to you 🙂

Well, we certainly have something in common - including the after effects from losing our partners. I've felt very demotivated - and tired a lot of the time - so I'm very impressed you've managed to go to the cinema! I've recently started to get involved in stuff outside my home - and have recently started doing some voluntary work, although i'm still shadowing at the moment and trying to improve my confidence which has fallen through the floorboards over the past few years. It will improve - eventually!
And i'm also a bit 'crafty' - although that's become another a victim to my Couch Potato existence! I'm getting back into doing stuff by colouring 'Mindfulness Books' - which is helping a bit. And i've become a WASPI Woman - which makes me feel as if i'm doing something useful to help others as well as myself!
it's a pity you live so far from me - but i'm happy to be virtual friends, and am delighted to have found someone else born in the same year as me!
Am looking forward to getting to know you more as time moves on!
Best wishes - Anna
