Wishing you all the best in your adventure. Austrlia is a great country to visit as the ties with the UK are strong so you will not have any problems comunicating but it is also such a different country.
I do not have hearing problem but I do have other health problems. I have travelled a number of times both to NZ and Australia with no problems - I do long distance walk . On the flying side I have found the airlnes and staff are first class so I wouldnt worry to much about that side of things.
In general I found the level of suport in the country itself for a single traveler was probably better then you generally find in the UK. My biggest bit of advice would be if you need some assitance then just ask someone and the typical Auz will only be to glad to go out of thier way to help you.
One thing to bear in mind is that it can get really hot there so you need to take it easy for the first weeks until you get used to it - get used to carrying some water around with you at all times..
Do as much online research as possible.
