First Year at Uni

Beginning to wonder about the ‘value’ of the first year at University? Seems to be too much drinking and not enough work being done. With the new increased fees this academic year, what are your thoughts on this issue?

I think we should just leave students to find their way through university, have a good time and eventually settle into serious study It has always been like that, so who are we to interfere?

I think most University courses could be condensed and reduced by at a least a year. Especially as the first year often doesn't count! It is so expensive to study and live in a University town, any saving of money is a good thing. Students leave University with such big debts .. not sure how anyone will afford to get on the housing ladder???
