How I got Frostbite indoors!

I never knew it was possible but I have frostbitten fingers just from trying to defrost some meat to cook! I spent quite a while trying to prize the chops apart to spread them out on a plate to defrost in the microwave. I never gave a thought to how I might end up with frostbite. At the age of 79 I thought I'd experienced a lot of things in my long life but not this.

A couple of days later the tips of my fingers on one hand started hurting and over the next few days became red and puffy and so painful. I had no idea why until I Googled and came across an article stating that you can easily get "burns" if you use ice-packs for pain, etc. and never to put them directly onto skin.

Also that diabetics are more prone to it than other people due to their circulation problems. That reminded me of the incident with the meat and although I only have a mild case and I don't think they will turn black and drop off but the pain is unbelievable. Luckily, Paracetamol gives me a bit of relief (or I wouldn't be typing this) but when it wears off I don't know where to put myself.

I just thought I'd put this out there as a warning to others not to be daft as me.
