Liking cats? That’s an understatement in my house of 12 fun furballs.
Started out with two, then I guess word got out on the street and I’m now the proud owner of a dozen cats, all rescues.
I also have a small feral colony of 4 at the moment down from 12.
The title crazy cat lady never came to mind when we moved here, yet here I am, lol .
All are well cared for even the outside guys with their heated houses and bowls.
We have a clinic here that fixes them for free and gives them their first and *last round of shots, I don’t believe in vaccines even for pets.
My last cat Buckwheat lived to be 23! So, I must be doing something right, lol .
There is never a dull moment here and no blankets needed when you got this many furballs hogging your bed at night, lol .
My only problem today is finding cat food, it’s getting harder and harder to find, hopefully this ends soon?

I was always a dog person, but now I have a cat, his name is Max. And I am very fond of him.

Hi MargaretB34

I am glad you have been converted to cats. When I was first married we had dogs, which are fine but too needy for me.

Moving to the country gave me the opportunity to have a couple of kittens, but they had feline equivalent of AIDS and they only lived a year. I was then
totally addicted, so had to have more and ended up with four in the end.
I had about 25 happy years of owning cats, but have now moved somewhere that does not allow pets of any description.

When you are catless after many years of caring for these lovely animals (certainly not owning) it takes ages to get over that empty feeling. When I move the first thing I will do is find a rescue cat! so must find a place that allows me to do that.

Wishing you enjoyable times with Max.

Val

Hi!

I also have a rescue cat, the first. My word, he is the most affectionate cat I have ever had. Do you think rescues are more friendly? Maybe because they are so happy to have a forever home? Am I trying to imagine this? My cat was basically suffering from starvation and was in a small town which euthanizes so indeed his life was saved!

I've had cats most of my life. But when my last two cats passed I refrained from anymore. However, since moving to a new flat there is a neighbours cat that makes himself known. He is a welcomed visitor and comes and goes as he pleases. Is lovely to have him around. He has 3 homes including his own that he wanders into. Sometimes is a matter of he has his treats and then he hops out the door again. Sometimes he sleeps all day then disappears out the door late on.
