Living the single life with partner in an EMI Nursing Home is a balance !!

Hello I am another newbie, and find myself on here due to a very unwanted life change, and needing the stimluation of others in a world currently dominated by a Dementia Nursing Home. The problem with Dementia groups is that is the only topic many of them discuss, and I am not in that world on a personal level, ( other than the love for my husband ) and still need a life of my own. Anyone feel the same ?

hi, babalu and Lesley,
I am in such a similar situation as yourselves, hubby had early onset and still at home, my time is spend around his needs, totally understand your comment about people ask, oh how's ****, he's doing ok I say,,,,,,, (what about me!) I also need to chat about the world etc, not just dementia, im in my mid 50,s and still want a life, I love him and always put him first, but also feel so isolated, bablau I have only met my husbands family a few times and now since his illness everyone seems to have drifted away,, (wonder why), ive joined this ite after seeingit advertised aiming at the more mature people, so hopfully will meet a few " virtual" friends, thank god for the internet think I,d go mad otherwise,,,,,, chin up, x
