Loneliness

I am 59. I love to garden , fish and travel to go fishing.

I find my self alone during the day and I rarely have company and when the garden flowers are doing good I find myself in need of conversation.

I noticed the other day when I went to the store that I talked to everyone in sight and realized I was lonely for a good conversation.

Hi BonneyBlue
I totally understand your feeling lonely. I retired last year at 65 but with the pandemic it’s made it difficult to get out with friends and I now find myself drifting away from them which is horrible. Another reason for this is financial. I am not yet in receipt of my state pension and so I am trying to manage on my savings which I don’t want to use. The cost of living and bills when living alone is very difficult and this also adds to me not getting out much. I walk a lot and like you love my garden in the summer.

Hello BonneyBlue,

I am a loner myself, and as I am French living in France too of course, and I cannot ask you to come round for a nice cup of tea although I badly need some gardening tips !! Like you I love flowers and gardening, I like sewing and doing things around the house, which does not encourage me to go out and do things with people !
I do not miss company for the moment, however I am aware it could happen one day, and I always keep informed about associations and activities that are available in my community in case I should need to come out of my shell... Have you tried any of that? I am certain there are clubs or associations you could join especially in gardening.. Anyway I thought I would send you this little note, I myself like to get a post of some kind now and then, so here are my greetings from Brittany !! Have a pleasant evening, Pascale
