Long stay winter holiday advice

Having both reached retirement age rcently we feel in need of some winter sun. I know a lot of mature folk spend their winter abroad but when I look I am only finding holidays of 14 to 28 days.

I'm looking for holidays in Spain that take full advantage of the 3 months you are allowed to holiday there but that don't cost the earth.

Has anyone any tips or suggestions please as to where I can find long stay breaks that don't break the bank?

Contact hotels direct, I stayed in Malta a few years ago just for a week of winter sun and our hotel was full of long term escapees from the UK winter.

Hi Beadyjan

Have you tried Airbnb options? We went travelling for a few years, rented out our home and if you rent a place for 4 weeks or more, you often get a hefty discount. You could also consider Trusted House Sitters if you like animals, but it's not always a cheap option as you often have car hire and lots of responsibilities to consider. If you are more adventurous then East Africa has a perfect climate all year round. We visit Uganda most years during the winter months - temperatures are a stead 25 to 27 degrees most days.

Hope you've found a great place to escape to - let me know if you have!!

We used to go to W Australia for 3months to escape UK winters but now we are both over 70 we struggle to find any affordable travel insurance policy that will cover us. So before you book please check you would be able to get travel insurance.
