Morning from a silver-surfing Yorkshire lass who is spending too many days not speaking to anyone - but the walls.
Watch this postWoke up this morning; to the sound of rain pattering on my window - thinking about another long day in splendid isolation. Hence my exploration into online chat forums.
Have I come to the right place for some interesting conversations? I shall be 64 next month. Have recently semi-retired.
My children are now out in the world and I wouldn't dream of bothering them. But life seems so very different now (from the last 20 years as a teacher) and I'm not used to uncertainty.
Things to chat about - I love reading, acquired an allotment last year which has been great, and I absolutely love walking (but not in the rain). Hoping to make some new friends.

Another teacher online. Wrote to Donna as she is an ex Teacher too.
Bet your glad you have your allotment. At least you have somewhere to go.
Take care. Keep well.
You have an allotment.... Bliss
I admire your spirit. I love gardening, not particularly good at it but I try and when something turns out well, such excitement!
I do seem to have over eager green fingers where Tomatoes are concerned however!
Do you have a gardening club? I would like to attend a meeting at our local one this year COVID Allowing and glean some tips.
And reading.... I have quite a broad base of likes..... Harry Potter through to Michelle Obama’s autobiography!!
Walking is a real love too. Headlands and hills and beaches.
Cornwall And The Lakes are my favourites.
Yep, Lockdown is a pain but it’s giving me the opportunity to do all the jobs I need to do, so that hopefully I can escape once they lift the starting gate!
Iam too retired and have been for eight years. I too miss the company. Not as fit as I was. Hopefully soon we can get to some normality again,
Take care. Keep well. Keep safe.
I too am from the north but maybe further north than you, Whitley bay, also retired 8 years.
Looking forward to speaking to you.
Keep in touch and keep well and safe.

Hope you enjoy being part of the silver surfer community .
I am finding it pretty tough, although have my husband for company, I love talking to people and I am normally busy.
We have been to Yorkshire a few times, but live in the South West so quite away for us to travel, but will definately be returning..
I too love the theatre but haven’t been since my ex died who was my ex husband. Iam a Northerner but live in the South East now. Retired, and miss company due to lockdown.
Hopefully we can get back to some normality.

I too live in Yorkshire. I recently cut my hours down at work and am planning to finish on a permanent basis next year (unless life throws me a curve ball). I enjoy reading and hope to be able to read more once I finish work. I like any genre but I must say Romance novels are at the bottom of my list. I have just bought one of the books on the Silver Surfers list Fifty-fifty by Steve Cavanagh.
Like you I enjoy walking normally either with friends or the local walking group. I have a reasonable sized garden, I have a had a go at growing most things in. This year I plan to grow cut flowers with just a few vegetables, any tips?

My lovely daughter in law is a Yorkshire lass, My late husband and I often holidayed in the Lakes and Dales with our small caravan. Great countryside, great people!..We used to walk a lot.
I do not read so much now, I used to devour books and get completely lost in one!. I paint in oils a bit from my own photos, I have a lovely one of sheep begging sandwiches from some children picnicking out with a teacher in Edale..
