New and looking for a pen pal/friendship

Hello, I am new to this site. I am a 69 years old, female, retired, living in the northeast, USA. I am immunocompromised so Covid has taken a toll on my social life.

I am looking for an online friendship/penpal. The last two years has been rather isolating and would love to share idea, our life histories, interests, etc. I had my mom (she will be 95 in another few weeks move in when Covid started. My partner of 23 years moved to Florida to be closer to his daughter when Covid started, so I am a bit lonely at times.

Well, hope to hear from you.

Hi there! I just joined this site today so am exploring and saw your post. Sounds like you are in a lonely spot. Yes Covid has, and continues, to take a toll in a variety of ways.

Congrats on your mom still being around! Same on my end but she is 10 years younger than yours. By the way I am 62, married, but also a bit lonely. Happy to share more if you like.

Also I live in the Chicago area.

Thanks.

Hello rdt4
Hope you are through the Covid emergency and now able to mix outdoors. It was pretty bad here at times and I wonder whether our government had any idea how to control things. It all seemed so chaotic with all the rules and regulations.. anyway, we seem to be on the other side of it now as the inoculation programs has been pretty effective.
Being on your own must be miserable without much of a social life. I too am in a similar situation but won,t bore you with the details. Suffice to say that I recently retired from running my own company and am trying to keep busy with house repairs etc. I,m married but we have lived virtually separate lives for many years now.
I have two sons and a stepson. My youngest married a California girl and moved out there about eight years ago after leaving the army. He is now an American citizen and enjoys life to the full.
I will be travelling out the in August to visit and to hopefully welcome my first grandchild.so looking forward to it.
That’s about all for now.
Keep your chin up as we say and drop me a line if you like

Hello, hope you are keeping well.

I am a 70yr old female, retired and living in Oxfordshire UK.

I have 2 grown up children, 1 grandson born during lockdown. I am happily divorced 30 yrs.

Covid hit us hard in the UK but so far I have managed to avoid it, many family members were not so lucky.

I volunteered as a telephone responder during covid, speaking to many vulnerable and lonely people which absolutely loved and this service has now ended.

If you feel like replying I would like to hear from you.

Kind regards

Good evening RJP, hope you are well, and that you get a few replies to your
post. My name is Terry and I am 74 years old ( soon to be 75 ) I live in a one
bedroom flat in a retirement building in Southampton, am originally from
Reading in Berkshire, have only been here for 2 years. I love to travel, and
have recently been to Cape Town in South Africa. I am here if you want to
chat at any time. Take care and stay warm, best wishes, Terry.

Hiya Terry48,

Thank you for your reply.
Sorry for not replying sooner I have not been online for a while.

Oxfordshire has been enjoying a couple of days of gorgeous sunshine, long may it last. I am so looking forward to the spring as I need to get some gardening started.

Have you any travel plans this year? I am having some friends from Canada in April/May. We were in the Royal Air Force together back in the seventies. I have visited them twice, They live in Ontario which is lovely. Did not realise how massive Canada is.
Hope to visit again, although my passport expired during Covid so needs renewing.

I also enjoy travelling and visited a few places since retiring,

Hope you are keeping well.

Kind regards

Good morning RJP, thank you for your message, it’s always nice when
you get a reply.
We also have had a couple of lovely sunny days, I was in Basingstoke
over the week end as I was dog sitting for one of my sisters, I got back
here yesterday afternoon and it’s another nice day, a bit on the cold
side, am not a cold weather person, I think that’s why I usually go to
Africa in the winter months to get a bit warmer. I had to go a bit earlier
than planned last October, due to having a hospital appointment when
I would normally go away.
I have only been to Canada once, in 1976, the year that the Olympics
we’re held there. I was in the Army and we went over for a month to
train with the Canadian Army, we had a few days off, so 4 of us hired
a car and we went to the Banff and Jasper national parks, there were
lots of lovely scenery and I wish we could have stayed a bit longer.
You never know, I may go back one day.
Well better not chatter too much, so I will finish off for now, I hope
that we can chat again, u till then, take care, best wishes, Terry.

Hello,
I have just joined and would love to find penfriends to chat with.

I am immunocompromised so know the toll covid has taken in isolating many people.
I live in a rural area of the U.K and have found life over the past couple of years quite difficult.

Take care all

And I'm 70, also retired, and also hit by long covid...I live in the North west of the uk, old fashioned type, suit and tie, and drive old cars with wood and leather - or used to...very quiet and sedate life now, listen to good music to relax, and read a lot...
Interested?

Hi and happy to to exchange emails with you! I'm immunocompromised too and Covid restrictions didn't bring to many changes to my day to day life as I don't get out anything like as often as I did! Still, it was a worry all the same. I have lots of interests and always keen to learn from others so if you want to begin a correspondence, I'm more than happy to do so.

Sending my regards,

Sara
