Pension Amounts

Hi, Did you know as a pension in receipt of State Pension based on your NI contributions you are being short changed!

I was recently chatting with friends about rising living costs, having each received our new payment letter from DWP for April 2020. On calculating our amounts based on the Governments Adult basic wage ( and what they consider an individual needs to live on), which rises in April to an hourly rate of £9.50 based on 40hrs. We had a shock when we found our pension amounts ranged from £4.15 - £4.35 per hour. WHAT we both exclaimed!!!

I am wondering why this has never been addressed by ANYONE as it obviously means that my friends and I are both below the government poverty line - I further calculated that even with my Local Authority Housing Benefit and a small private pension, I will not earn the £380 per week I should ( according to the Government) be living on Interested in your thoughts on this

Hi Everyone it’s interesting reading your posts. I feel that pensioners in the U.K. are treated really badly in our pension being one of the lowest in Europe.
Please help by signing, sharing and tweeting this petition wherever you can. Thanks x

While we continue to get percentage increases on our small pension we will continue suffer. It is only possible to exist and not live, Since the abolition of the free television licence I used savings to pay for this and since mine expired in July I have not watched the BBC because I haven't renewed the licence. I understand people want to maintain their standard of living and go on holiday and out for meals etc. but it's common for many on low incomes to have to choose between heating and eating..

Hi Lionel, I'ts good to see you still active,as am I. I missed out on an Employers' pension as I was not allowed to join the scheme as I was a Part-time and female, though Monthly-paid Salaried staff, just missed by a 12month by the EEU directive changing that, as I had been made redundant and the firm closed by then, after 19 years of service. I saved the equivalent of my contributions while working and saved myself just out of any State Benefits. I wonder if I should have bothered.....
