Silly sayings - and where they came from

I regularly say "Ooo, it's chilly for June" (when it's cold and not necessarily June!) and consequently both my sons (31 and 29) do too.

We'd love to know where it comes from - I know I picked it up from my mother but I can't ask her as, sadly, she's no longer with us.

Another thing I need help with, please, is the following. I was at a choir rehearsal (a few years ago) when the choirmaster said, "Right, any questions?" to which I IMMEDIATELY responded, "Who made the sandwiches?" My fellow choristers looked at me as if I'd gone mad! I think it might have been from a TV advertisement for a sandwich spread or something, but a Google search hasn't come up with the answer.

In the grand scheme of things, neither is really a problem, but they're driving me mad nonetheless!
