Time to say hi there ..
Watch this postI've recently joined up and thought it was about time to say hi to everyone and introduce myself .. I'm a 63 year old married man with a passion for information technology and everything to do with it. Since leaving the IT industry I have continued to keep myself up to date with hardware and software. My main hobby is donating my computer's idle time to science projects for the benefit of science and humanity to help cure diseases such as Alzheimer disease, Parkinson's, Zika, Malaria and AIDS. I do this through an organisation called BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC, pronounced /bɔɪŋk/ – rhymes with "oink"). I came to get to know BOINC in the late 1900's when I discovered SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) and started to use their 'SETI screensaver' on my old big CRT computer screen. I have since then become a member of a Team associated with BOINC called Team Gridcoin who through the miracle of the 'block-chain' allow me to earn a crypto currency called Gridcoin which helps me to defray my computer's electricity expenses . If anyone should wish to discuss my hobby and/or crypto currency 'block-chain' related matters please contact me. I also, as a community service (for a minimal fee), tutor people my age, older and younger, on computers. I do this on line and on a one to one basis in their homes (in my local area), so maybe if you've got a computer problem/worry I might be able to help. Anyway that's me in a 'nutshell' at the moment ..
