We went Feb this year. Everywhere indoors was toasty warm. We did a lot of excursions and so long as you have warm anoraks gloves and decent shoes( I just used waterproof walking shoes) you'll be fine. It was particularly cold and windy at the gullfoss waterfall but we went and saw horse show, geysers , northern lights boat trip and bus ride at night to see them( we are still waiting) . Also a trip to the blue lagoon is really recommended and we wished we had visited this early in hol cos we would have gone back. It's just fab. We stayed at the Hilton in Reykjavik and was one of the best hols we had. Roads and paths are kept pretty clear of snow too. Piled high on the sides tho. Hope this helps.
