Any vitamin/supplement suggestions please?

Hi all, I'm looking for suggestions for vitamins/supplements to take to help my overall health. I'm 65, live in the UK, and try to exercise about 5 times a week (even if it's just a walk down to my local village shops!). I go to the gym about twice a week too. No major health concerns, just the usual aches and pains associated with ageing.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations of what has worked well for them? It's something I've never explored before and thought why not! Thanks

I’m older than you but take a multivitamin from Healthspan, I know they do one for over 50s, and these have a good range of really important vitamins in them. I certainly noticed the difference.

Hi Valla46,
Many thanks for your response of 25 Jun concerning the Vitamin tablets, I have taken notes and will research them as and when, but thank you for taking the time to let me know. Graham

Seem to be bumping into you all over the place. I’d forgotten about this one, but you are welcome, and hope they do you some good if you go with them. Don’t know what emmap thinks though.
All the best,
Val

Vitamin D: In the UK, where sunlight exposure can be limited, many people may have insufficient vitamin D levels. Vitamin D is important for bone health, immune function, and overall well-being. Consider getting your vitamin D levels tested and talk to your doctor about the appropriate dosage for supplementation.

Calcium and vitamin K2: Calcium is essential for bone health, and vitamin K2 helps ensure calcium is properly utilized in the body. These two nutrients work synergistically, so it's often recommended to take them together.

Many foods are also rich in vitamins and can be properly supplemented at ordinary times. See:(https://bpdoctormed.com/blogs/healthy-eating-stratgies/which-foods-are-rich-in-vitamins)

The only thing I take is cod liver oil Emma. I have RA and my vitamin D levels can be erratic. The doctor gave me vitamin D tablets to take every day but after doing some research and speaking with the nurse at the hospital I discovered that the the tablets were so well below the level I should have been taking. I spoke with the dietitian and she said don't waste your money, buy a bottle of cod liver oil from any pharmacy, one teaspoonful a day provides just over the daily recommended amount of vitamin D.
I have been doing that for almost 7 years now and regular blood tests are showing my vitamin D evels are what they should be. The non branded bottle I buy is £1.10p and lasts just over a month - much cheaper than any branded vitamin D tablet and, of course, all the other benefits cod liver oil provides!

Hi Emma,
The only one thing I take, is Jamieson B12. I was having trouble with my memory and sometimes forgetting what I was trying to say, but these little guys sure did help. Stay active, good luck and God bless. Graham
