Bottle digging and mining relic hunting

Hi... I am new to SilverSurfers and would like to acquaint myself with anyone who is interested in old bottles and old mining relics.

I live near a Ghost Town in California which mined silver back in the mid to late 1890's. Anyway, for the past 30 years or so I have found several different things specific to that time period. I actually have thousands of old buttons from that time also.

I especially like that patent dates were stamped on almost everything in those days and the materials used to manufacture items were of good to excellent quality ....such as copper, glass, brass, tin, ceramic and silver believe it or not. I love finding something then searching for info on the item based on whats the patent says....dates, manufacture etc. Nothing more cool than finding an old ceramic dish and using the stamp on the bottom to make a neat fridge magnet....easy with the help of a Dermal tool and some sandpaper. I figure a fun and pretty much free hobby is worth it...even more so since I have such an interest in the era.

So enough said, I hope that someone will respond with the similar interest and possibly share artifacts that have been found elsewhere to see the difference in how people lived and dressed etc.
