Ever had your pocket picked and do you realise the cost!!

Recently I had my pocket picked - well the missing wallet was put in the pocket and when I wanted it again - it was gone. I cancelled the bank cards (we're with Sentinel who were brilliant) and was told to report the loss to the Police because there was a drivers licence in the wallet. The police cascaded the call to a lady that asked if I was sure it was stolen - could I have dropped it? Was I positive that it was dipped. I didn't see the hand going in - I was in a busy environment, I now know known for its pickpockets but could not categorically state it was stolen - she then gave me a "loss report" number. It was this number that opens up the tin of worms - on applying for replacement cards, bus pass etc they ask for this number and then slap a CHARGE on the replacement because the loss report was a loss and not theft. If I had sought to push the theft issue I would have been given a different type of number which in turn nullifies an extra charge. I'm not suggesting we lie about it all but be aware the questioning when filing the report can result in you getting an incident number that will cost you money - be aware guys and galls.
