Facebook Page

Hi folks, New joiner here ! I have a question - is there something amiss with the SilverSurfers Facebook page ?? I "liked" the page a couple of months ago but now I find I cannot comment on any of the posts. Not only that, but the option to "Unlike" the page is not there either ! Despite all this I still get notifications to my timeline whenever there is a new post. Any ideas, anyone ?

I have been unable to get on S/S Facebook for three days. Message from google it is not available and I may not be have the link any more. Reported to facebook but they never tell you what could be wrong or will it be fixed. I have been using for years and just lately there have been odd problems with posting Photos on 'Posts' I give up!

Hi Sally.

There was a message from Silver Surfers earlier on today about Hanuka Honey . I wanted to order some but my computer shut itself down and now after trolling through all my Facebook messages for over an hour I still can't find the message. Can you send me a link please?

Kind regards

Sandra

When I was a nipper, (Heck, that's some time ago)
There was something special 'bout Christmas and snow.
Snow was a rarity, and as for presents we craved
Weather was stormy, they’d fell off the sleigh
Prob'ly the greatest fun that we had
Was sat in the farm truck, borrowed by Dad
Just driving around the old town at night
Checking out other’s decorations and lights.
Snowmen and Reindeer, and bright flashing stars
And behind them the real ones, twinkling afar.
We searched for the Bethlehem Star in the sky
And thought we saw Santa, ever so high.
We OOed and WOWed over lights the we saw
Then turned and we headed for our house once more.
There in the window a small sapling tree
Decorated with tinsel by my sister and me
Is the one I remember to this very day
For we then knew the meaning so reaL and so true
It’s family and love…….Merry Christmas to you

For St George's Day

As I went sauntering out one day, a noble Knight I did espy
He rode an armour'd steed so grey, which cast on me a fiery eye
.
The knight wished me a bright 'Good Morn', then asked perchance I knew the way
To where the mighty Dragon lived, the one that he had sworn to slay
.
My blood ran cold for I had heard stories of such awful Dread
The terror and the carnage wrought, and Maidens slaughtered in their bed
.
I pointed out to him the way, he thanked me with a courtly nod.
I wondered as he rode away if I dare follow where he trod
.
So with great care I followed him through forests deep and moorlands wide
But he soon felt that I was there and bade me to his side.
.
We travelled on three days or more, until we came to pleasant ground
Or so it seemed until a roar rent all the air around.
.
The knight just smiled and drew his sword, said ‘Now fun begins'
He donned his helmet, spurred his steed, cried 'God, let goodness win'
.
Another monstrous bellow, and a sight that froze my bones
Alighted just before us, hot as Hell and hard as stones
.
At once the knight was at him, with no sign of mortal fear
Dodging blasts of fire, and the cruel tail waving there
.
The knight was weaving, stabbing at the fiercest foe he'd faced
Praying that his sword would find a soft and tender place
.
His God was with the knight that day, the monster's heart was pierced
The land was freed of evil, the folk no longer cursed

And I was there to see it all, by St George's nod
The slaying of the Dragon for England and for God

I can't click on to posts on the main page to enter my "#Photo Friday" entry this has only happened in the last two weeks as I'm a regular entrant. Have I been blocked for some reason?
Response from Sue - Silversurfers Assistant Editor made on 1st Mar 2019 11:01:13
Hi Angela

No, you haven't been blocked a few other members have had this problem it would seem Facebook has a glitch at the moment. If you are accessing
from an APP maybe delete it and redownload it, or restart your computer and try a different browser.

Is it possible for someone from admin to check the 'blocked' list as apparently people can be put on it for no reason.
Response from Silversurfers Editor made on 5th Jan 2016 17:36:46
Hello Renka ... try and see if you can access our Facebook page now, and let me know if it is now working for you?
Response from Renka made on 5th Jan 2016 21:07:54
thank you - it now seems to be working. I assume then that I had somehow been blocked. I don't think I posted anything to offend so I trust it was only Facebook playing up.

This is exactly what's happening with me. I get notification etc but I cannot comment nor can I 'unlike'.
As for contacting Facebook about it - might as well put a message in a bottle and fly it to the moon.

I too wondered if I had been 'barred'.

Logging in and out again has no effect. It's ver frustrating when I want to comment on something.

I'm a fully fledged member with a Silver Surfers card

Hello John ... this is a bit of a mystery to me ... not sure why you are having these difficulties?? Try refreshing your page/browser? There are gremlins from time to time ... if that doesn't work have you tried to make contact with Facebook via their Help Pages? Best of luck Sally
Response from John Bailey Original Poster made on 1st Dec 2015 20:08:41
Hello Sally,

No I haven't done that as they are usually worse than useless. However I have in the past had an occasion where (on a totally unrelated commercial page) I posted a comment which the owner disliked and he retaliated by barring me and not telling me he had done so - thus I found myself unable to comment or post topics, but without knowing why !

It would be useful to know that I haven't caused myself a similar issue here, although I'm 99.99 % sure that I haven't. My Facebook username and email address are the same ones I registered with here.
Response from Silversurfers Editor made on 1st Dec 2015 21:34:48
Hello John ... I am not aware of you being barred from our Facebook community. Apart from refreshing your browser or logging out of your Facebook account and logging in again, I can't think of any suggestions to help you. Have you googled similar experiences to see if there are any other threads around that are similar to your problem?
Response from John Bailey Original Poster made on 1st Dec 2015 21:45:15
Thanks for confirming that, Sally. I will Google it now, as you say it's not entirely unusual for there to be gremlins with that particular Facebook feature. Thanks again !!
Response from Lesley made on 19th Dec 2015 13:21:11
I am having the same problem. Get all the notifications of new Silver Surfer posts on FB, even a fully fledged member with my card. But no option to post messages or comments on your Facebook page. I log out and log in everytime I use FB so that isn't the issue. Very frustrating when there is something I want to join the conversation 🙁
