Gender Selection for babies

There is an increase in British couples heading to the US in order to choose the sex of their child, according to a fertility specialist – a practice which is currently illegal in the UK … what are your views on choosing the gender of a baby?

I think that science has gone mad! I don't think that it is ethically right to choose the sex of your child, unless it is for medical reasons in that a certain sex carries a genetic health risk. You should be happy and blessed with a healthy baby no matter if it is a boy or a girl!

I do not think you should mess with mother nature, life is a gift and it shouldn't matter if it's a boy or a girl, so long as they are healthy. The trouble is in some cultures they do not want girls, if this technology keeps on going the way it is can you imagine in 10 or 20 years time suddenly we have a ratio of 10 men to one woman (the Frankenstein effect). Because I'm quite sure these companies won't keep account. it'll be all about the money to them. I'm not saying do away with this technology and if there is a solid medical reason that's find, but apart from that mother nature keeps life in the balance and that's how we should leave it.

I think gender selection will only increase. Companies like http://www.genderselectionclinic.org/ are now helping UK couples by doing the treatment in Europe, which is more closer to the UK tan the US and i'm sure this type of service will only increase.
