I thought that my aches and pains were a normal part of the ageing process. I mentioned them to my GP, just in passing really, and he suggested that I had a blood test. It turned out that I have polymyalgia . What a pain!! It can burn itself out in 2/4 years but the only treatment, not a cure, is long term steroids. Not something I wanted to do but there is no choice. The pain has diminished and I am able to lead a near normal life although not able to go on long walks. Not a lot is known about the problem but I have found a very good support group who have been an immense help.

Hi ! I understand how you must feel with your pain , I know someone who suffers with your condition.
My husband has terminal prostate cancer , his recent bone scan showed an abnormality in his spine so that would be the reason why he has been getting a lot of back pain . His consultant has advised a session of radiation treatment due to commence in a weeks time , He is really struggling with the pain , he takes pain killers and Oral morphine to try and help ease his pain .
I can only hope and pray that the radiation treatment will work for him .

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 11 years ago,I am now 52 and live with near enough constant pain all over my body,I manage it by pacing myself and trying to be as positive as possible
I still work full time as a Healthcare assistant at my local hospital and have several hobbies to keep me busy,I try not to spend long periods of time sitting down although if I get caught up in a good book I can forget to move, I have also rehomed a friends little dog so I get out for regular walks with her, I like gardening to take my mind off my pain and I also keep chickens,I got the chickens before my dog with the purpose of them making me get outside more because I had started to spend lots of my free time cooped up indoors feeling sorry for myself,I don't do that anymore because it doesn't achieve anything, instead I practice gratitude for the things I am still able to do
