Looking for companionship

It’s taking me a while to get used to this but here I go… I’m 66 recently single again (not by choice) have two lovely daughters and three gorgeous grandchildren who I see regularly but obviously they have their own lives and the time in between is empty.

I devoted myself to them growing up and didn’t get into groups or clubs as their father worked long hours and often it was only the three of us and not easy to get out. Weekends were family time so I avoided activities that would intrude on that. I had looked forward to a busy and varied retirement but that won’t happen now so I am trying to find ways of doing those things I hoped to but not by myself.

I do have friends but they have families and are not the sort of people to want to just take off on a whim to go on a city break or some winter sun… I meet them for coffee, lunch etc but I need more.

I’m not sure a dating site is right for me as romance is a sore point just now but I can’t help thinking there must be some nice 60-something gentlemen out there who would like a companion for the theatre etc (happy to pay her share). I truly believe that I can’t be alone in feeling like this.

I’m in the Herts/Essex area but unfortunately, no longer drive. C’est la vie!

Hello. Have you tried U3A in your local area? Look it up on your computer and see where they are and what groups they have.

Not good at the moment but later on after the coronavirus has gone you could email any group you wanted to join.
