Ski Trips for the Older Skier

I got to thinking about my old skiing holidays and how the crowd I used to go with seem not to be interested anymore when I stumbled onto a small group of chaps calling themselves the Over Sixties Ski Club. The main thing I ran into was that trying to kickstart my ski career, was the dreaded Single room supplement but what these guys do is latch on to last minute 'deals' then pair you up with a roomy so you book independently and then meet up with a few others at the chosen chalet. The downside was that they only seem to operate out of Gatwick airport and I'm in darkest Essex, but it really was great to get my ski legs back ... can't wait for next season!!

This reminded me of how I used to ride a bike before I got knee pain. My grandson brought me his new unwanted bike when he moved to France to study European literature. He says he got it here https://www.bikethesites.com/best-hybrid-bikes/. At that time I rode for 2 hours every day. Now it in my garage under a thick layer of dust

Hi BraintreeMarty - how do I get in touch with the Over Sixties Ski Club mentioned in your post above? (I couldn't find them on the internet)
I have an option on a half board ski holiday package to Les Arcs for a week from 13th March and need to avoid the single room supplement (flights from Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester). Alternatively my next available departure date is 2nd April with option on a half board package to Avoriaz (from Gatwick). That Stansted departure might appeal to you!!
My usual ski buddy can't make it this year...

Hi Superager,

I was planning to go to the French Alps for a ski holiday next year. Do you have any recommendations for a ski resort? I found a list with many destinations - https://www.sport2000rent.com/skiverleih/standorte/frankreich/ but it is always hard to pick one without having enough information concerning conditions, prices, etc. I would be very thankful, if you could provide me with some tips.

All the best,
Lili

Two questions: - do you have a link to the Over Sixties Ski Club - I can't find it? Do you have difficulty getting insurance for skiing as an over 60?

That's a great idea - going with an over 60s group. I'm lucky I'm living in the French Alps at the moment. Went out this morning to a new place called Notre Dame de Bellecombe. It's not that easy to get going from there despite being a pretty village. Better to start from Les Saisies or from Praz sur Arly.
